In the midst of the Cardinal Assemblies, Porras requested prayer for the election of the next Pope.
Cardinal Baltazar Porras, Archbishop Emeritus of Caracas, reported this Sunday, May 4 that he met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See, in the midst of the decisive days that the Catholic Church is going through after the death of Pope Francis on April 21 and before the start of the conclave to choose his successor, scheduled for this Wednesday, May 7.
Through a message posted on the social network X (formerly Twitter), Porras stressed that Parolin “has always shown great interest and concern for Venezuelan reality” and that, despite its busy schedule, made a space to receive it in the Vatican.
“We will always be grateful for so many good intermediation offices that Cardinal Parolin has demonstrated for the good of all Venezuelans,” said Archbishop Emeritus, remembering that Parolin was Apostolic Nuncio in Venezuela between 2009 and 2013, when he was appointed Secretary of State by Francisco.
He also invited parishioners to stay in prayer during the Cardinal Assemblies that continue in Rome. “I ask you to stay together in prayer for the future Pope, who will soon be teaching his blessing from the main balcony of the Basilica of San Pedro,” he concluded.
Pietro Parolin’s name highlights as one of the most mentioned in the Vatican “Quinielas” to succeed the Argentine Pontiff, as Efe said. The Cardinal, 70, is a man of consensus and hardly typecasting between progressive and conservatives, which could be an important asset.
Known for all Cardinals, a great diplomat who has approached the Holy See to China and a good connoisseur of all east and Latin America.
