‘I entered a huge depression’

It was the greatest tragedy that shook the Nordic crown in its recent history, that of the death of the ex -husband Marta de Luisa de Norway, Ari Behnwhen he committed suicide at age 47 for the mental health problems he dragged. A really traumatic episode that is still remembered today with great sadness, especially by those who shared their lives with him, as is the case of the firstborn of the kings Harald and Sonia.

The princess, who during all this time had barely talked about this painful event for her and her family, has definitely broken her silence about it. He has done more than a five years after what happened in that black Christmas of 2019, telling how they had to face a blow as hard as that and recognizing that, logically, they were severely affected when moving forward.

However, half a year later, she couldn’t help falling into a dark well. “I entered a huge depression and I couldn’t even get out of bed. I felt completely devastated”he has confessed in tears when he remembered the drama he lived.

Explain how your separation was three years before

When the renowned Norwegian novelist took his life on December 25, five years ago, three had passed since he and Marta Luisa had separated after more than a decade together. It was in August 2016 when both decided to put an end to their marriage, something that has also recalled the sister-in-law of Mette-Marit. “The most important thing for me at that time was to protect girls”he points out. “I put them over anything else and swallowed many toads, but it is no use to blame your ex -partner,” he adds.

They had the shared custody of the minors and, to carry it as well as possible, Behn bought their own home in the town of Lommedalen, not far from the house of Marta Luisa. At first, their daughters went and went between one address, but over time they realized that it was not the most suitable for them. “He went wrong and I saw that he was not working. So we were the ones who began to move so that there was greater peace of mind.”he explains about how the little ones did not have to change their home intermittently, but it was they who stayed in the same shifts.
