Cole Ragans struck 11 in five solid entries and Bobby Witt Jr. had two hits with a driven race, while the Kansas City Royals continued their recent dominance over visitors Chicago White Sox with the victory on Monday night by 3-0.
Maikel García and Drew Waters connected a producing hit each, while Garcia and Witt stole two bases each for the Royals, who won their third consecutive victory and their twelfth in the last 14 games. Kansas City has won seven games in a row and 15 of the last 16 against Chicago, who connected six hits and struck out 14 batters, in addition to losing his eighth consecutive defeat as visitors against the Royals.
The White Sox were already bleached four times in 2025.
Ragans (2-1), who lost his previous turn in the rotation due to an injury to the groin, allowed three hits and two bases per ball, but recorded at least 10 strikeouts for the fourth time this season. The left -hander was never really threatened by the White Sox.
Meanwhile, Chicago’s rookie, Shane Smith (1-2), was also solid, in general, but allowed two races, five hits and three bases per ball, with five strikeouts. He was withdrawn with a man based and without outs in the sixth.
Ragans and Smith broke up for three and a half entrances without allowing races. Then, in the loss of the fourth, Witt opened with a single to the left garden, stole second, advanced to Third with an uncontrolled throw and, after the base by Salvador Pérez’s balls, he scored with a single from Garcia on the left side of Chicago’s infield.
The Royals added another career in the fifth. Kyle Isbel embasted with a touch single, advanced to Second with Jonathan India single and scored when Witt connected a double to the right-central garden. However, India was on Home with the Winnie Pasquatino road to the first base of Chicago, Andrew Vaughn.
In the eighth, Garcia walked, stole second and finally scored with twice Waters to the left garden.
Carlos Estévez worked the ninth for his tenth rescue of the season.
Kansas City has a 12-5 record at home this season. Chicago, meanwhile, has a record of only 3-14 as a visitor.
