Two Venezuelan NGOs denounce the death in prison of a detainee behind the elections

The Venezuelan NGO Committee of Mothers in Defense of the Truth has denounced this Sunday the in prison for alleged suicide of Lindomar Bustamante, “27 -year -old motorcycle and ” who had been “in the context of the post -setelectoral mobilizations” in July 2024.

The latter has pointed out that, “according to relatives, Lindomar had already threatened against his life and, although they warned, he did not receive medical attention or protection.” In addition, both NGOs agree that both inmates had been in punishment and isolation for 15 days.

At the same , the two organizations have denounced that the death of Lindomar Bustamante has occurred in the custody of the State, and the Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners has assured that “there are already at least six people killed in custody of the Venezuelan State between 2024 and what goes from 2025”. “But the State is not only not protecting the life of our boys, but is destroying them,” said Mothers’ Committee in Defense of Truth.

Likewise, the Committee of Mothers in Defense of the Truth has defended that many of the detainees after the July 28 elections are not “terrorists” or “criminals”, and that, at most, some had committed “small faults.” Therefore, the NGO has asked that the freedom be granted at that time “while the trial continues” and then promotes “an amnesty law.”
