The Bolivia Embassy in Argentina expressed its “deep consternation” for the violent death of Richard Flores Mercado, a 30 -year -old Bolivian citizen, on May 3 in the town of Ezpeleta, province of Buenos Aires.
The diplomatic delegation denounced that the fact would have been motivated by xenophobic attitudes and expressions.
“Given the seriousness of the fact and in defense of human rights and non -discrimination, Bolivia asks the competent instances of an exhaustive and transparent investigation to clarify this fact, sanction those responsible and adopt preventive measures,” says an official statement.
According to Argentine media, the young man was allegedly attacked by a neighbor after an altercation on public roads. According to the C5N media, the attackers claimed “that he goes to his country” and recriminated “that he did not respect anyone”, while he was discriminated against by his nationality
A video broadcast on social networks shows the fury of merchants and passersby, one of whom hit him with such force that he left him unconscious. Flores died days later due to the wounds suffered.
Given the seriousness of the event, the Bolivian diplomatic representation demanded that the Argentine authorities “an exhaustive and transparent investigation to clarify this fact, sanction those responsible and adopt preventive measures.”
The Embassy also announced that it will carry out institutional monitoring to the case in defense of human rights and non -discrimination.
“We will follow up on the corresponding instances to clarify this unfortunate fact,” said the Bolivia embassy in Argentina.
So far, the Argentine judicial authorities did not issue official information on the arrest of the aggressor or the progress of the investigative process. Migrant groups and human rights organizations expressed their repudiation to the fact and ask that the case not be unpunished.
