In the last home match against Central Córdoba in Santiago del Estero for the Professional League, some fans had whistled at the coach and they had made themselves heard. This time, the reaction was different: there was applause and no booing was heard.

Against the Paraguayan team, River will go for a result that allows it to advance to the round of 16 and, in addition, seal the ticket to the 2025 Club World Cup. For that, it needs to at least get a draw at the Monumental stadium.

What Martín Demichelis had said about the fans’ whistles

After the 3-0 win against Central Córdoba in Santiago del Estero, the coach had declared at a press conference: “I am responsible for the team and the fan has the freedom to demonstrate and express themselves. But my love for the club is so great that my respect for the fan will always be there”.

“If the fan is dissatisfied it means that we have to continue evolving and improving. “We are going to focus there with the pride and honor that it means to be River’s coach.” And he added: “We are going to continue doing our best to make the team play well and bring joy to the people,” he had pointed out.
