Tadej Pogačar achieved his fifth victory of stage in the Giro d’Italia by winning alone in the rain, this Tuesday in San Cristina Val Gardena.

The Slovenian, without a rival in this Giro, went on the attack shortly before the last kilometer of the final climb of this stage shortened due to weather conditions, to further increase his advantage at the head of the general classification.

Among the highlights of this stage 16 is the performance of the Colombian Nairo Quintana, who was during the last 90 kilometers pulling the main group, but it wasn’t until the last few meters that he couldn’t overcome the Slovenian’s superiority and that’s why he ended up losing about seven more minutes within the general classification.
