Chilean motorsport will experience the Desert Trophy Race 300 this week, one of the most attractive off-road testscompetition in which pilot Rodrigo ‘Kid’ Arriagada He is excited about becoming the protagonist.

In the Atacama Desert, between May 28 and 30, the Desert Trophy Race 300 by Raid Atacamaa UTV competition that will be experienced for the first time in Chile.

The competition will take place under the Baja modality, with a bivouac type camp, just like the main races held in the United States.

In it, “Kid” will be one of the pilots with a standard Can-Am Maverick R, the most powerful UTV in the world.

“We are very happy to be part of the DT Race 300, the first Baja-type race held in Chile,” commented Arriagada.

He also explained that “Las Bajas”, unlike competitions such as the Dakar Rally where you navigate with a route map, but without having visited the place, is held on a previously stipulated track where a reconnaissance is carried out.

“There, the pilots can go to mark the points and checks that we deem appropriate, so that the next day we can run the different stages,” commented the national competitor.

Arriagada’s decision to compete in the Stock I series of the Desert Trophy Atacama, with the standard UTVs as sold to individuals and with a speed restriction of 110 km/h, is based on the capabilities of the Can-Am Maverick R.

The Can-Am Maverick R is a buggy for private use, “but with the soul of a sports car.” It is powered by a 999cc T Rotax turbocharged 3-cylinder engine that generates 240 horsepower. It is the most powerful of its kind in this category.
