MIAMI — Rookie Masyn Winn hit a two-run homer in the 12th inning, Dylan Carlson knocked out the potential tying run in the bottom half and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Miami Marlins 7-6 on Monday to move into above .500 for the first time since early April.

St. Louis (36-35) won for the fifth time in six games and stayed with a positive record for the first time since going 5-4, precisely with a victory against the Marlins on April 6.

Owners of the worst record in the National League, Miami (23-49) suffered its sixth straight loss and fell to 2-12 in June.

Dominican Bryan De La Cruz tied the score 4-4 with a three-run homer in the eighth off JoJo Romero.

The teams traded scores in the 11th. Winn took it against AJ Puk (0-8) for the 7-5 lead.

Nick Gordon led off the bottom half with an RBI triple. Tim Anderson followed with a fly ball to right and Carlson made a perfect throw to Venezuelan catcher Pedro Pagés, who touched Gordon’s left arm as he slid headfirst.

For the Cardinals, Panamanian Iván Herrera went 2-for-4, one run scored and two RBIs. Dominican José Fermín 3-1.

For the Marlins, the Dominican De La Cruz is 5-1, with one run scored and three RBIs; and Jesús Sánchez 1-for-5, one RBI.
