Kylian Mbappé returned to training with France this Wednesday, after his severe nose fracture in the debut against Austria for Euro 2024. And he trained almost without difficulty with his teammates, although with a bandage on the affected area, of course. But this Thursday he already appeared with a mask, with which he will have to play, in principle, for the rest of the contest. And it is very well personalized, with the colors of your country. On social networks, of course, comparisons with the Ninja Turtles started in full force…

With the mask on, the Frenchman was seen happy, as he returned to complete another training session with France. As a consequence, of course, Rumors have already begun to grow that he could even play this Friday against the Netherlands, a chance that seemed practically ruled out after the match against Austria. Beyond that, another unknown to be resolved is what mask he will really play with when the time comes, since according to UEFA regulations it has to be a single color…

Will Mbappé return against the Netherlands?

In principle, it was expected that France’s number 10 would return in the duel corresponding to the third date of Group D of the European competition, where it will face Poland. But, given the Frenchman’s rapid recovery and with his mask already ready, the possibility grew that he would do so against the Netherlands this Friday, for the second date. Of course, he will have to play with the mask for the rest of the Euro Cup. In this way, he will avoid an operation that would require 10 days without being able to play and would rule him out for the rest of the group stage matches.

“It was a major crash. The medical staff did everything necessary to reduce it as much as possible, after the examinations. Even if there is no surgery immediately, it will have to be done,” said Didier Deschamps, regarding Mbappé’s condition.

How did Mbappé’s fracture happen?

The attacker suffered a broken nose after 80 minutes of play while trying to contest an aerial ball: he hit the shoulder of Kevin Danso, Austrian defender, which caused a cut in his septum that left him bloody. While the game was being played, Kylian was left lying on the grass with great signs of pain. Even the goalkeeper of the Austrian team, Patrick Pentz, asked for doctors to enter the field of play.

Despite receiving immediate attention, Mbappé returned to the field in search of stopping the match and making changes. But, when he entered with a blood-stained shirt and an open injury on his nose, the referee, Jesús Gil Manzano, decided to caution him.
