SAN DIEGO — Rookie Tobias Myers continued his tremendous month of June by winning his fourth straight start and Blake Perkins stood out in the five-run second inning with a two-run single as the League Central leaders Nationally, the Milwaukee Brewers beat the San Diego Padres 6-2 on Sunday to avoid a four-game series sweep.

Myers (5-2) limited the Padres to one run and five hits in five innings, with three strikeouts and no walks. In each of his four outings this month he allowed a maximum of one earned run or a shutout, all wins for the Brewers, and won his fifth decision since May 21.

The Brewers gave him all the necessary support by scoring five runs with six hits off Michael King (5-5) in the second.

In addition to Perkins’ two-run single, Brice Turang hit an RBI triple, while Sal Frelick and Tyler Black had RBI singles.

The Padres saw the end of their four-game winning streak, which had matched their best streak of the season.

San Diego finally punished Myers in the fifth, when Venezuelan Luis Arráez singled in Ha-Seong Kim, with the third hit in a row with two outs.

For the Brewers, Venezuelan Jackson Chourio went 2-for-2 with one run scored. Dominican Willy Adames was 1 for 5 with one run scored.

For the Padres, Venezuelan Luis Arráez went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Dominican Manny Machado was 1 for 3 with one RBI.
