América de Cali continues to advance in its preseason ahead of the BetPlay 2024-II League and the club began the task of finding a stadium to play in, since Pascual Guerrero will not be available because it will be occupied by the U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Given this, the club announced that it had reached an agreement to play at the Hernán Ramírez Villegas stadium in Pereira, but hours later the request was denied by the city’s mayor, Mauricio Salazar.
Faced with this controversy over the non-approval of the stadium, the director of Cordep, Mónica Ramírez, assured in an interview with ‘Antena 2’ of RCN Radio that the reason why the stage is not provided is because two Colombian soccer teams already They had it busy and that there cannot be more than 3 clubs playing in the same place.
But who are those teams that will play at the Hernán Ramírez Villegas stadium? Well, according to Ramírez, Atlético Nacional and Independiente Medellín had already received the endorsement and there is no chance of another club doing so.
“The stadium will not be loaned to América. Taking into account that when they sent the endorsement that Deportivo Pereira gave them, there were already endorsements for two more teams in the country. In order to take care of our grass, and our stadium, we have decided that we cannot rent the stadium to four teams,” said Mónica Ramírez, who confirmed that they were Nacional and Medellín when asked if they were those two teams, to which she responded that “ Yeah”.
In this way, América de Cali will have to continue looking for a stadium to play in the next semester of the BetPlay League and it has not yet been defined what other option the club has to play its home games.
