CD Valdepeñas will play in the Third RFEF

CD Valdepeñas will be relegated to the Third Division RFEF. This was announced by the board of directors of the wine-growing club on Wednesday night after the Extraordinary General Assembly held at the Municipal Fronton Pavilion of the Ciudad Deportiva Virgen de la Cabeza in front of just over a hundred members, an assembly that took place one day after the deadline for the presentation of candidacies for the presidency expired.

Finally, after no candidate came forward and before the outgoing board of directors was dissolved to appoint a management board, Ángel Fernández, with the support of his board of directors, has proclaimed himself president for this last year of the legislature and to keep the club’s hopes alive in its return to the Third RFEF division more than twenty years later.

However, Ángel Fernández’s presidency is supported by financial support “from small and medium-sized companies that told us a few hours ago that they would collaborate with the club.”

Raúl Maroto, the former president of the entity who resigned just a week ago, gave an account to his partners in a “historic” season where a surplus of more than 17,000 euros is expected, although it is true that there are still some amounts to be received.

“Many companies have turned their backs on us and others have decided to support us. During this time of downtime, we have not stopped working to obtain liquidity. I will not continue as president, but I believe that there is a qualified person, Ángel Fernández, who has been my right-hand man all year,” explained Maroto.

For his part, Ángel Fernández acknowledged that “given the current situation, we were forced to call elections. Today we can say that we have a project for economic viability and we can announce that the team will start in the Third RFEF and that, despite the deadline for registration ending on July 15, we will do so tomorrow or the day after.”

Jose Luis Fuentes, the chosen one

Pending official confirmation from CD Valdepeñas, José Luis Fuentes from Albacete will become the new coach of the wine-growing team in the next few hours. Fuentes is a well-known coach in the Castilla-La Mancha Third Division RFEF and last year he was the second coach of Estepona in the Second RFEF alongside Javi Sánchez from Toledo.

The Albacete native has several promotion play-offs and several promotions after having managed teams such as Zona 5 de Albacete, Villamalea, Atlético Ibañés, La Roda, Huracán de Balazote or Villarrobledo.
