Valencia have made several references to Formula 1 and motorsport in general to announce the renewal of Hugo Duro. The Madrid striker will remain yellow until 2028 and to make it official, Antonio Lobato has recorded a traditional presentation prior to each race, in which we have also seen the footballer driving a street car around the Ricardo Tormo Circuit.

Duro, married to F1 Academy driver Nerea Martí, has strengthened his ties with motorsport in recent months. The Valencia forward was already present at several races in the women’s category last year and in 2024, he has also travelled to the Spanish GP to support his partner.

A month after his wedding, Duro’s renewal with Valencia until 2028 has been confirmed, curiously the same year that Max Verstappen signed with Red Bull. The Madrid native has been one of the sensations of the yellow team this season, with 13 goals in a season that has been a step forward for him and his club.

Duro married Martí on June 1st in a wedding that took place at the Mestalla Stadium and the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, perfectly reflecting their careers as a footballer and a driver respectively. A month later, the Madrid native has returned to the Valencian circuit to take a few laps in a street car.

In the moments before his renewal, Toni Cuquerella has sent a video with his traditional phrases, but with a nod to football and to Duro’s data from last season. After that, they have published a presentation of Antonio Lobato, with a style identical to those he does on Dazn Formula 1 before each race, in which the footballer has been seen riding on the Ricardo Tormo Circuit and has ended with him announcing his renewal.

This is not the first time that Valencia has approached the world of motor sport. Last year, Marta García was in charge of taking the honorary kick-off in the yellow club’s match against Granada, as a tribute to the F1 Academy champion title they won in 2023.
