A season that will always be remembered. This is how the 2023/2024 campaign for Real Oviedo’s youth teams could be summed up in a few words. The blue club puts an end to a season in which the youth teams once again gave their all in their respective categories, won championships and where the Juvenil A team gave us a Copa del Rey that will go down in history.

If we start talking about the older players, we cannot forget the magnificent knockout tournament played by the Carbayones, where they reached the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey Juvenil that was played at the Carlos Tartiere. Granada, Cádiz and Levante were the rivals that Paco Fernández’s team faced before their date at the Oviedo municipal stadium. Once there, the defeat against RCD Espanyol by 3-1 did not tarnish the impeccable work of the Juvenil A team, who dreamed, enjoyed and fought in front of their people on a day and in a year that will always be remembered in the club.

As for the regular season, and with many of these players forming part of Vetusta for the next campaign, the team from the capital of the Principality finished in fourth position with 55 points, only behind Deportivo de La Coruña, Racing de Santander and Celta de Vigo. Meanwhile, and continuing with the Juvenil B, the Asturian team obtained third place in the classification with 64 points.

In the 1st Cadet Division, the fight for the title continued until the end, although in the end it was Real Sporting de Gijón who won the cup after beating our team by just one point. The Cadet B team, on the other hand, had an outstanding campaign, winning their group and beating Real Sporting de Gijón in the final phase for the title after a 3-2 aggregate scoreline.

In the children’s category, the Infantil A team finished second after a very close season in which the red and white team finally took the lead. Fortune was not on the side of the Infantil B team either, who were defeated by CD Llanes 0-3 in the final phase of the cup after winning the first leg 2-3.

We continue this review of the 2023/2024 campaign by talking about the championship of the Alevín A team, which with 29 games won and only one drawn reached 88 points to take the league title. The Alevín B team also won their respective group in the regular season, although they did not emerge victorious in the final where all the group winners faced each other.

Finally, and speaking of the youngest, the Benjamín A team finished second with 82 points. The Benjamín B team finished in the same position, with only Atlético de Lugones A scoring more points than ours in Group 3 of Segunda Benjamín. We put an end to this review of the season for the teams in the lower categories of Real Oviedo by talking about the Prebenjamín A team and their full run of victories in the League to finish at the top of the table.
