Durant misses start of US prep due to injury

The United States national team has begun its preparation for the Paris Olympics, but has had to do so with Kevin Durant on the sidelines. According to Steve Kerr, the forward has a slight calf strain and it has been decided that he will not participate in the first sessions, although he also acknowledged that this is simply a precaution and that his physical problems are far from serious.

His situation will therefore be analysed on a daily basis, trying to estimate the ideal moment for him to be able to join the group without any risk to himself. For now there does not seem to be any risk that he will miss the Olympics, although he is considered doubtful for the first friendly match that the Americans will play on Wednesday 10 July against the Canadian team.

The United States will debut in Paris on the 28th of this month against Serbia, apparently the toughest opponent in their group, and then face South Sudan and Puerto Rico. This will mark the beginning of a journey in which only gold can be won, because, after the setback in the last World Cup, the great stars of the NBA have decided to unite to try to show the rest of the planet that they are still at the top of this sport.

Kevin Durant leaves for the Warriors

This is not necessarily the case for Durant, who has always shown his commitment to the national team in the run-up to the Olympic Games and already has gold medals in London, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo to his name. This time he will be seeking his fourth medal with a squad much more similar to that of 2012 than to that of the other two editions, although several equally well-prepared teams will try to prevent this from happening and steal from the Americans a gold that has not escaped them since 2004.
