MADRID, 9 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

ASOBAL and the Association of Handball Players (AJBM) announced on Tuesday the creation of the fifth Collective Agreement for Spanish professional handball to establish “the most essential bases for the correct functioning of the professional competition,” according to a statement.

“ASOBAL announces the creation of the V Collective Agreement of Spanish professional handball with the Handball Players Association (AJBM), published this morning in the Official State Gazette number 165, of Tuesday, July 9, 2024,” the entity announced.

The document aims to establish “the most essential bases for the correct functioning of the professional competition, with a time frame – including extensions – until June 30, 2026.” This fifth agreement “establishes and regulates the rules that must govern the working conditions” of professional players in the Asobal League, “as well as the rights and obligations that can be enforced between the signatory associations.”

This collective agreement comes after the AJBM and ASOBAL have “worked hand in hand over the last few months”, signing this document “with the aim of highlighting the role of the professionals who make up the Plenitude League”.

“This is great news for our sport and has been possible thanks to the great harmony that exists with the AJBM. Both entities are working in the same direction, placing clubs and professionals as the cornerstone of the project,” explained the president of ASOBAL, Servando Revuelta.

In this regard, the Fifth Collective Agreement includes the creation of a social security fund that will allow the AJBM to address situations of need, health and welfare expenses, or carry out training plans to “facilitate the transition of players from sports life to the strictly working environment”, among other points.
