Lighting systems connected to the smartphone allow 16 million colors to be used.

Regarding April 27, International Design Day, a date that has celebrated the role of designers in society since 1991, it is worth remembering one of the best ways to beautify one’s places: through intelligent lighting systems.

The trend, associated with the Internet of Things, occurs in Chile in a context in which people prefer to stay at home; According to a Cadem study published in 2022, 78% of those surveyed said that after the pandemic their main entertainment space was now inside the home.

“These new habits give space for people to experience the aesthetic and functional benefits of technology. In this case, today lighting can be customized according to the preferences and activities of each user, setting and adapting areas of the home; something that people really enjoy and see that it positively impacts their lives,” says Paula Riveros, Signify Product Manager for South America.

The multinational Signify, (Euronext:LIGHT), a leader in smart lighting, offers Philips Hue for the home, an innovative connected lighting system that can be used via Bluetooth or a device called Bridge. In both situations, the bulbs are installed (they must be compatible), the switch is turned on, the Philips Hue app is downloaded and the user then follows the instructions. The Bridge, which is the heart of the Philips Hue system, connects the smart device to the lights. Users can add up to 50 lights and 12 accessories.

“Philips Hue combines bright LED light, high energy efficiency and intuitive technology; The system allows you to automate and control the house lights from your cell phone; Create scenes based on your current light settings, choose from 16 million colors in the app to adapt the lighting to your mood. It also allows you to use a favorite photo and relive that special moment with touches of color throughout the room,” Riveros highlights.

This innovative smart lighting system also synchronizes the lights with music, movies or games. The latter is also possible with Philips Hue Sync, a free application for PC or Mac that captures what users are watching, listening to or playing, thus translating it into a light recipe.
