Safari will receive these new features with iOS 18 to try to remain the king of browsers

There are less than forty days left until WWDC and we finally know all the news about iOS 18. Everything indicates that one of the star moments will be the presentation of Safari enhanced with all the artificial intelligence tools that Apple has developed.

Safari is currently the most used browser, and Apple’s plan is to provide it with the latest technologies so that it remains that way. In addition, all these new features will reach the iPhone, iPad and Mac with macOS 15.

Safari will make intelligent summaries of articles and web pages

One of the main features coming to Safari with iOS 18 will be some summaries powered by Apple AI. Some other browsers already have this functionality, such as Arc, and the truth is that it is really useful. One of the uses I give it the most is when reading news, since They summarize all the news in a few lines.

This function will have to be enabled manually in each article, so we understand that it will be a functionality similar to reading mode which Safari currently has. By clicking on the summary button, Apple’s artificial intelligence will identify the topics and key phrases.

Additionally, your LLM software will even identify texts that describe figures or images to put into context. This smart summaries feature is already being intensively tested in Apple labs, and although it will be presented at WWDC within iOS 18, it seems that will be available at the end of the year with a software update, just as happened with the iOS 17 Diary App.

A ‘web eraser’ that will remove ads and videos in Safari

The second new feature of Safari with iOS 18 is based on the interpretation of dynamic elements On a website. Based on artificial intelligence, Safari will know what elements are ads, videos, pop-ups… and you can delete them to leave only the important content for reading and browsing. Apparently, this functionality does would remember the web pages you have browsed and will save your preferences even after you’ve closed the tab.

All Safari tools will be in a new menu

If you remember, Apple already tried to redesign Safari with iOS 15. What happened is that It was too drastic a change. and finally returned to the traditional appearance. However, year after year, Safari receives new features that sand added after the ‘Aa’ menu inside the navigation bar. Reading mode, translator, increase font size… Many options for a single button to which we should add these new features that will arrive with iOS 18. That is why there will be a new menu on the controls to be carried out on a web page.

An improved visual search, although it will arrive in 2025

The latest Safari feature with iOS 18 will be a long time coming. And Apple plans boost visual search that we already have available on our devices. For example, if you now go to the App Photos and click on the ‘i’ for informationwill give you data about what you are seeing: the type of food, pet, a historical building…

This visual search will be expanded to the entire Safari navigationhence any picture what you see you can select it to find out what it is. This will require a large amount of calculations on the device itself since it will only have a few milliseconds to analyze and process the image. That is why, although we will see it announced at WWDC with iOS 18, it will arrive throughout 2025, probably with iOS 18.4.
