Einstein’s theory of gravity, which predicted the “final fall” of black holes, has been proven, and we now know more about them.

A group of researchers from the Oxford University (United Kingdom) has revealed that the famous scientist, Albert Einsteinwas correct in a prediction related to the black holes. The results have recently been published in the journal Monthly Notices of the Astronomical Society.

The authors used x-ray data to test the Einstein’s theory of gravity. They saw that, just as the renowned physicist predicted, In black holes there is an area in which the matter stops surrounding them and falls directly inland.

Additionally, the team discovered that This region exerts some of the strongest gravitational forces identified so far in the galaxy.

On this occasion, and as part of other research carried out by the same university to unravel the secrets of these objects of the Universethe study was carried out towards small black holes relatively close to Earth. In turn, the data were obtained thanks to the space telescopes of the POTNuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR) and Neutron star Interior Composition Explorer (NICER).

Another team of the Oxford University will be in charge, at the end of this year, of making the first video recording of the largest and most distant black holes, who know each other. Meanwhile, the Einstein’s theory of gravity becomes more important.

Einstein’s theory predicted that there would be this final fall, but this is the first time that we have been able to demonstrate that it occurs,” explains the Dr Andrew Mummeryfrom Physics Oxford University, who led the study. “It is as if a river became a waterfall: Until now we had seen the river. This is the first time we see the waterfall”.
