In advance of Summer Game Fest 2024 and the rest of the summer events, a leak made fans believe that the fantasy game will no longer be exclusive to PC. What happens is that a reddit user saw in the PS Store from PlayStation a promotional image of New World: Aeternum.
According to reports, the alleged poster was removed from the digital store. It’s easy to assume that Amazon Games or PlayStation made a mistake and released the image before the official reveal.
This theory makes sense if we consider that the game’s official account announced that, during the Summer Game Fest broadcast this Friday June 7th, will share an “exciting announcement.” The console port is not confirmed at this time, so we recommend taking the information with a grain of salt.
Although the leak emerged in the PS Store, the insider and journalist Tom Henderson I affirm that New World will come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Apparently the launch is scheduled for sometime in end of 2024.
There are also doubts about what the subtitle “Aeternum”. There are those theorizing that the console version will be different from the PC version or that this is the name of a new expansion that will represent a starting point for new players and a new era for veteran fans.
New World It debuted with great momentum and achieved a record of 700,000 concurrent users on Steam during its first hours on the market. It maintained the good pace in subsequent days and reached a historical peak of 913,643 simultaneous players. Currently, it is the 8th most successful game in the history of the Valve platform, behind ELDEN RING and Cyberpunk 2077.
Of course, Amazon Games’ RPG was unable to retain the interest of players for long. Currently, it remains afloat with an average of 10,000 and 15,000 active players.
