During the recent Ubisoft Forward conference, the European entertainment house allowed itself to offer a tour of the gameplay of ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows‘, the next installment of the franchise that offers its players an intense adventure in the chaotic Japan of the 16th century. The mission shown at the conference takes place in the walled city of Fukuchiyama, in the province of Tanba, where Naoe and Yasuke hunt down a corrupt daimyo.

Dual dynamics

The images show the complementary dynamics of both playable characters: Naoe, the agile and stealthy shinobi, and Yasuke, the combat-focused samurai. It seems that although they fight on different sides at the beginning of the game, they will later unite for a common goal. In any case, its story opens the way to a new era of Japan, and players will be able to switch between one character or another at any time while traveling through its open world, using their skills and weapons to face complicated situations.

Naoe embodies the spirit of a shinobi Assassin and has a hook that, in addition to great mobility, allows her to perform stealthy aerial assassinations, as well as a kunai and a personalized hidden blade with which to achieve quick eliminations. A whole arsenal of tools to attack from the shadows. In close combat he will be more vulnerable, but he can still deflect and dodge blows to counterattack using light, his environment, and the structures around him.

Yasuke, for his part, is prepared for the most direct confrontations, and resorts to his combat skills and the weapons of a samurai. Whether wielding his katana to deliver decisive blows, opting for the brute force of the kanabo, or attacking his opponents from a distance with a type of lethal harquebus (the teppō), he appears to be able to handle multiple enemies at once with ease. . Among other relevant elements, it also describes how players will be able to take advantage of a new exploration tool called “spy network”. Thanks to it, Naoe and Yasuke will be able to send spies to investigate locations and discover useful information about the position or habits of their targets, among other secrets of the world.

Editions and release dates

With development led by Ubisoft Quebec, the game will launch worldwide on November 15 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Amazon Luna, Mac (with Apple processor) and Windows PC. Ubisoft has also announced that the game will be available for iPad at a later date. Those players who purchase the Gold, Ultimate or Collector editions, or who have a subscription to Ubisoft+ Premium, will be able to play the title three days early, that is, on November 12. Additionally, those who pre-order ‘Shadows’ will receive an additional mission (regardless of which edition was pre-ordered).

On the other hand, Intel, the video game’s CPU and GPU supplier, has once again joined forces with Ubisoft and the new title in the franchise, developed from scratch with the latest version of the Anvil engine, has been optimized for the hybrid performance architecture from Intel, promising the best possible experience on 14th generation Intel Core processors.
