Minutes after unlinking Diana Mondino of his position as chancellor, the Government issued a statement through the Office of the President in which it announced that “will begin an audit of the Foreign Ministry’s career staff with the objective of identifying drivers of agendas that are enemies of freedom”.
“The Office of the President informs that Foreign Minister Diana Mondino has presented her resignation from the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship. The current ambassador to the United States, Mr. Gerardo Werthein, will take his place, who will lead the continuity of the transformation in our country’s foreign policy,” the note reported.
“Argentina is going through a period of profound changes, and this new stage requires that our diplomatic corps reflect in each decision the values of freedom, sovereignty and individual rights that characterize Western democracies,” he added.
In this sense, he highlighted that Argentina “categorically opposes the Cuban dictatorship and will remain firm in promoting a foreign policy that condemns all regimes that perpetuate the violation of human rights and individual freedoms.”
