Although this Tuesday at noon the Disney theme parks in Orlando, Florida, were still open to the public, the company announced on its official site that they will close in phases starting Wednesday, October 9 so that visitors and employees can return to their hotels and homes safely. Hurricane Milton is expected to impact Florida on the evening of that day.

Thus, on Wednesday, October 9, the theme parks and Disney Springs will close in phases starting at 1:00 pm.

  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will close at 1:00 pm.

  • Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Disney Springs will close at 2:00 p.m.

Theme parks are likely to remain closed on Thursday, October 10. The company is considering opening Disney Springs on Thursday afternoon, with limited offerings.

This includes the cancellation of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom park on Thursday, October 10. Tickets for the event will be refunded.

Disney Resort Hotel Closures

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will temporarily close beginning at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 9. They are likely to remain closed until Sunday, October 13.

Transport

Walt Disney World transportation will stop operating on Wednesday, October 9 following the closure of Disney Springs and the Walt Disney World theme parks.

Limited van and taxi service will be available for Walt Disney World Resort guests.

Recreation

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, Winter Summerland Mini Golf, and Fantasia Gardens Mini Golf will be closed on Wednesday, October 9. Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park will remain closed for planned renovations.
