Two men have appeared in court charged with the murder of a “doting father.”

Ross MacGillivray, 36, was found with serious injuries after police were called to a property in St Ninian Drive in the Dalneigh area of ​​Inverness at around 12.10am on Sunday 12 November.

Mr MacGillivray was pronounced dead at the scene and a murder investigation was launched following a post-mortem examination.

Police Scotland arrested and charged Craig Hayden, 28, and Leon Headey, 21, at the weekend in connection with Mr MacGillivray’s death.

The pair appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court on Monday where they made no plea to the charges of murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

Hayden, of Ross and Cromarty, and Header, of Liverpoolwere remanded in custody and are due back in the dock within the next week.

Following Mr MacGillivray’s death, his family said: “Ross was a loving husband, a doting father, loved by his family and friends and all who met him. He will be especially missed but definitely not forgotten.

“We love you to the moon, the stars, Jupiter and Mars.”
