Editorial (USA), Oct 31 (EFE).- Dominican Teoscar Hernández opted for free agency for one season with the Los Angeles Dodgers, despite offers that assured him more contract time and money.

The risky play made up for it this Wednesday with the Series title.

“I wanted to go to a team where I could compete and be in the playoffs and a good organization that would make me a better player,” Hernández explained.

With the arrival of Japanese Shohei Ohtani to Los Angeles, Hernández joined an offensive line that already included Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and Max Muncy.

The Dominican slugger was noticed in crucial moments, such as when the team was against the wall by the San Diego Padres in the Division Series, in which he hit 333 with two home runs and seven RBIs.

Hernandez appeared today to hit a two-run double against Gerrit Cole with two outs. Thus he completed a five-score attack with which they tied the score in the fifth inning.

“I was just trying to find a good pitch and thank God the double came out that tied the game,” he said today in full celebration of the title.

In his first World Series, the Dominican hit a batting average of .350 (20-7) with a home run and a double, and four RBIs in five games. EFE
