Two injured in overnight fire in Shellsburg | Top Stories

SHELLSBURG, Iowa (KWWL)- Two people were injured in a house fire in Shellsburg early Saturday morning.

It happened in the 100 block of Grover Street.

The owner of the house told KWWL first responders used a helicopter to take both of the injured people to the hospital for treatment. It is not clear what their condition is.

The house was completely engulfed in flames. Several surrounding fire departments including the Palo Fire Department responded to help the Canton-Benton-Shellsburg Volunteer Fire Department.

The owner of the house said that three pets died.

Some neighboring houses and vehicles in the area had minor melting or siding damage from the fire.

KWWL has reached out to the Canton-Benton-Shellsburg Volunteer Fire Department and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office to learn more about the fire.
