A man was killed in a weekend house fire in Reading, according to city fire officials and the Berks County coroner’s office.

Joseph Angelisanti, 94, of the 2400 block of Downing Street was taken to Reading Hospital following the fire in his home Saturday, officials said.

City Fire Marshal Jeremy Searfoss said firefighters were deployed about 1 pm to the house in northwest Reading. He said it took about 20 minutes to get the fire under control, and it was contained to the home.

Angelisanti was pronounced dead in the hospital, officials said. An autopsy is pending.

Searfoss said the fire was still under investigation and that further details were unavailable Monday afternoon.
