Cali hosted the cities meeting, which began the first space with representatives of the municipal governments 2024 – 2027, to learn about the structure of the Grid of citiesan organization in charge of ensuring immigration strategies in the country, their operation and objectives.

Thanks to the support of the World Bank and the United States Agency for International Development – ​​USAID, through the Intégrate project, this meeting was held, seeking to facilitate methodological expansion, between cities, in strategic decision making. in the framework of migration management.

The Sky Branch welcomed representatives from cities and municipalities such as Bogotá, Medellín, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Cúcuta, Bucaramanga, Riohacha, Santa Marta, Bello, Jamundí and Necoclí, who had a space for exchanging practices and knowledge that aims to guarantee the attention to the migrant population in a dignified manner and respecting their rights.

The meeting was attended by María Isabel Barón, Secretary of Social Welfare; the coordination of the Cities Network; the direction of Coexistence, Security and Justice; the leadership of Proyectos Colombia Líder and the Intégrate USAID project team; the National Planning Department; Ministry of Equality and Equity; Migration Colombia and the World Bank; civil society organizations and representatives of the local government of the different cities, who discussed key issues such as the challenges and needs that this population has to draw up a roadmap that allows adequate migration management.

On this day, workshops and a discussion were also held that allowed us to learn about the structure of the Network of Cities through experiences and knowledge for the construction of everyone’s agenda.

“From the District Administration, we thank the attendees for being in the city today and so that we can learn what is being done in the different cities. It is important to mention that the Intégrate Center is a commitment and an example that the Mayor, Alejandro Eder, wants to replicate from the different departments of the district government. We have worked together for a purpose, we have great results and the Intégrate Center is a model that allows us to reach citizens to guide and advise this population appropriately,” indicated María Isabel Barón, Secretary of Social Welfare.

For the District Mayor’s Office of Santiago de Cali, it is important to remember that thanks to the coordination with the United States Agency for International Development – USAID, there is the Intégrate Center, a point of care for the migrant, refugee, returnee and Colombian, which is located on 2DN Avenue # 24-128 El Piloto neighborhood, which seeks to provide information and guidance free of charge to ensure compliance with the duties and rights of these new citizens in the territory.
