After a new incident of insecurity in the province of Córdoba, the police achieved the arrest of two men aged 37 and 53suspected of having perpetrated a attempted armed robbery of a 71-year-old retiree, who was also sprayed with pepper spray, who resisted the assault and managed to notify the authorities.

The incident occurred around ten o’clock at night last Saturday in the town of Tío Pujio, a town located 18 kilometers from Villa María, when the two criminals entered a “rubber shop located at 300 9 de Julio Street, in that town, where the retired victim of the incident resides.

According to what was recorded in the Córdoba Police report, after entering the place, the subjects in question threatened “with a firearm, also throwing pepper spray” at the man who lived there, to perpetrate the robbery. The statement details that “due to the resistance of the victim, the subjects give up their attitude and flee.”

It is at that moment, after receiving the alert about what was happening in the place, “police personnel from the Tio Pujio Detachment, with the collaboration of the Villa Maria Preventive Patrol and the South Rural Patrol Directorate*, They managed to arrest the two men. “at the intersection of Mendoza and 25 de Mayo streets” in that town.

In addition, the police managed to seize “clothing, mountain passes, contact glasses, seals, cash, pepper spray and a cell phone.”

But the question does not end there, since during a search around the area this Sunday in the “vicinity of the place, the police officers They found the weapon “long 22 caliber with visible numbering* with which the act would have been committed and “discarded” by criminals “at the moment of fleeing.”

Now, everything seized will be subjected to the corresponding expert opinion to incorporate it as an element of evidence in the investigation that is in charge of the Second Shift Investigative Prosecutor’s Office, headed by Juliana Companys, Secretary in charge of Dr. Jose Alvares.

In principle, the detainees are charged as alleged perpetrators of the crime of “Qualified Theft”, and if it is proven that the aggravating circumstance is the use of a firearm, the penal code provides for a prison sentence of between 5 and 15 years for the perpetrator.
