The hearing of the murder case against former Okoth Obado and two others has been postponed to May 6, 2024.

This is after the court was told that the third accused person Caspal Obiero is bereaved.

The court was told that Caspal lost his wife and children in a road accident in March and the family is yet to bury the deceased.

The hearing was scheduled for this week but Caspal through his lawyers informed the court that he was unable to attend today’s proceedings and urged the court to give him time to allow him to go on with the funeral arrangements.

“The accident happened in March and the reason as to why they are burying the two people in May is because of finances issues and also the Luo culture which have pre and post rituals to be performed especially when you lose a wife,” court was told .

The other persons accused through their lawyers did not oppose the application.

“Having heard from Caspal Obiero lawyer and other sides I allow the application as prayed and vacate the hearing dates and I also convey my sympathy to the accused I direct that hearing resumes on 6th May at 9:30 and that the accused be present,” court directed.

The prosecution told the court that they have at least four witnesses to testify in the case who include the investigating officers.

The matter will now be heard on May 6.

The accused are charged for the murder of Sharon Otieno September 5, 2018.
