DELAND, Fla. – The 2024 Atlantic Sun Conference Beach Volleyball Championship began Wednesday on the campus of Stetson University. FGCU, North Alabama, North Florida and Stetson recorded wins to open the postseason event.

The top-seeded Ospreys and #2 Hatters earned straight-set wins against #8 Austin Peay and #7 Central Arkansas, respectively. The Eagles, slotted third in the tournament, swept #6 Jacksonville 5-0 while fourth-seeded UNA defeated #5 EKU with a 4-1 decision.

• #2/No. 20 North Florida 5, #8 Austin Peay 0

– The Ospreys got the day started with a sweep of Austin Peay while not dropping a set to the Governors
– North Florida’s duo of Iris Fletcher and Katie Camp clinched the match for the Ospreys as they defeated their APSU foes 21-11, 21-17

• #4 North Alabama 4, #5 EKU 1
– In the second matchup of the day, UNA defeated EKU 4-1 as the Lions advance to face the Ospreys on day two of the championship
– Katy Floyd and Selma Robinson clinched the match for the Lions on Court 2 defeating their opponents in straight sets winning 21-11, 21-13

• #2/No.16 Stetson 5, #7 Central Arkansas 0
– The No.16 nationally-ranked Hatters did not drop a set in their opening match against Central Arkansas
– Stetson’s No. 3 duo of Vanessa Hurnikova and Lauren Della clinched the match for the Hatters after defeating their UCA foes 21-8, 21-10.

• #3 FGCU 5, #6 Jacksonville 0
– The Eagles closed out the first day of action with a sweep over the Dolphins as they are now set to face the Hatters on day two of action
– Kaitlyn Luebbers and Nicole De Oliveira clinched the match for the Eagles on Court 3 with a 21-19, 21-12 victory
