Burgess Guides No. 5 Duke to Series Win Over NC State Saturday

RALEIGH, NC. – Freshman Amiah Burgess helped guide No. 5 Duke past NC State, 6-1, clinching the conference series win on Saturday at Dail Softball Stadium.

Burgess led the way with his bat, hitting 2-for-3 with an RBI-single and two-run home run to drive in three of Duke’s six runs.

Sophomore Cassidy Curd and senior Lillie Walker saw action in the circle and combined to surrender just one hit on the night. Curd earned the start and the win after tossing 5.0 innings, surrendering a solo home run while recording five strikeouts. Walker picked up the save after working 2.0 innings of relief and sitting down all six batters she faced.
