Natural death – At 9:54 am April 23, police responded to the 100 block of 2nd Street, where a 78-year-old Fredericksburg man was found unresponsive in the living room of his home by his home health nurse, who called 911. The man suffered from multiple health-related conditions. There were no signs of criminal activity at the scene.
City of Lebanon
Simple assault – Police charged Trevon Barnes, 31, with simple assault (domestic violence-related) after an incident on April 21.
Escape, driving while suspended – Police charged Eduardo Batista-Reyes, 32, with escape and driving while suspended after a traffic stop on April 24.
Drug possession – Police charged Pedro Nazario, 31, with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after police responded to a trespassing complaint on April 9.
Drug possession – Police charged Heather Boyer, 32, with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after police responded to a trespassing complaint on April 9.
Retail theft – Police charged Bernard White, 62, with misdemeanor retail theft after an incident on April 13.
Simple assault – Police charged Clifford Wright, 36, with simple assault (domestic violence-related) after an incident on April 21.
Criminal trespass – Police charged Rebecca Runkel, 39, with felony criminal trespass after an incident on April 25.
Criminal trespass – Police charged Rafael Grande, 47, with felony criminal trespass after an incident on April 25.
Resisting arrest, evading arrest or detention on foot – Police charged Andrew Spencer, 36, with resisting arrest and evading arrest or detention on foot after he attempted to flee from officers while being served a warrant on April 26.
Bowl for Kid’s Sake – On April 18, the Lebanon City Police Department participated in the Bowl for Kid’s Sake event at Palmyra Bowling Alley. The police said they’ll spare you the details, but this was a fun event that supported the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region, and they can’t wait for next year’s event.
Lebanon City Police Department thanks Lebanon Valley Craft Brewery – On April 12, the Lebanon Valley Craft Brewery held a fundraiser to raise money to cover the expense of a ballistic vest for K-9 Officer Ares. With such a great turnout, they raised $2,350. The police said they are incredibly proud to serve the community and appreciate the support. They also extend a big thank you to the brewery for hosting the event and the community for their donations to the K-9 Fund. (Find LebTown’s article about the fundraiser here.)

Jackson Township
Pickpocket – On April 22, a 70-year-old Bernville woman contacted PSP Jonestown to report the theft of a wallet from her purse at Horning’s Market in Myerstown. The wallet was worth $50, and the lottery tickets and cash in the wallet were valued at $100 and $85, respectively. The suspect was a customer and was identified. Charges are pending.
North Lebanon Township
Retail theft – Police charged Yasnellie Crespo-Hernando, 26, and Marilu Ortiz-Martinez, 65, both of Lebanon, after they failed to pay for merchandise worth $193.22 at the Lebanon Walmart on April 10.
Harassment, public drunkenness – Police charged a 23-year-old Lebanon man after a physical altercation at 1:36 pm April 21 on the 300 block of Ebenezer Road.
Suspicious activity – On April 9, police responded to the 1700 block of North State Route 72 for a round metal object found in front of a building. The object appeared to be sealed on both ends and looked similar to a pipe bomb. The police forwarded a picture to the PSP Bomb Squad, which responded and used a robot and X-ray equipment to check the object. It was determined to be part of a hydraulic line. A construction truck’s connector fell out of an open compartment.
Accident involving injury/death – On March 21, police charged Daquon Ferrier, 31, of Brooklyn, New York, with accident involving injury/death, driving while suspended, suspended privilege, careless driving, driving vehicle at safe speed, and operating another person’s vehicle. The tractor-trailer was speeding on East Maple Street and 8th Avenue and overturned, striking a Met-Ed pole and another vehicle.
DUI – Police charged Thomas Trout, 66, of Lebanon, with DUI, DUI-highest rate, and driving on roadways laned for traffic after his vehicle failed to negotiate a turn, exited its lane, and struck a mailbox and a tree.
Homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter – Police charged Brian Sheaffer, 58, of Lebanon, with homicide by vehicle, accident involving injury/death, involuntary manslaughter, false reports, reckless driving, careless driving, driving on roadways laned for traffic, vehicle turning left, duty to give information and render aid, and immediate notice of accident to police department. Charges stem from a hit-and-run crash involving a motorcycle on Aug. 25. Sheaffer fled the scene and reported his vehicle stolen. The motorcyclist died at the scene. North Londonderry Township
Disorderly conduct – At 7:28 pm April 21, police stopped a vehicle driven by a 47-year-old Palmyra man on Main Street at Apple Blossom Lane for an expired driver’s license. The man was found to have a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside his vehicle. Police filed a non-traffic citation against him through MDJ Warner’s office.
Palmyra Borough
Driving while suspended – Around 2:08 pm April 13, police pulled over a white Ford E250 on the 700 block of West Main Street and identified the driver as Michael Hippensteel, 54. Hippensteel was found to have a license that was suspended in relation to a DUI conviction and expired. Additionally, Hippensteel has two prior violations of driving while suspended (DUI-related). On April 15, a criminal complaint was filed with MDJ Warner’s office, charging him with misdemeanor driving while suspended (DUI-related), third or subsequent offense.
Terroristic threats, simple assault – Around 7:30 pm April 9, police responded to the 300 block of East Broad Street for a report of a domestic dispute. Police determined that a 15-year-old Palmyra male threatened and assaulted his sister. On April 15, a juvenile allegation was filed with the Lebanon County District Attorney’s office, charging the juvenile with misdemeanor terrorist threats (domestic violence-related), misdemeanor simple assault (domestic violence-related), and summary harassment.
Endangering welfare of children – On April 23, police filed charges of two counts of endangering welfare of children against Janessa Mione, 35, through MDJ Warner’s office after an incident at 7:02 pm April 19 on the 00 block of North Grant Street in which Mione’s minor children left the residence and wandered around the unattended neighborhood.
Hit-and-run – Around 12:23 pm April 17, a hit-and-run crash occurred on the 100 block of East Broad Street when an unidentified silver Mercury SUV struck another vehicle. Graffiti at Memorial Park – Around 7:36 am April 21, police responded to Memorial Park, at 200 E. Spruce St., where several individuals used black paint to vandalize the HR Weaver Band Shell sometime between 7:15 am April 20 and 7:15 am April 21 Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Palmyra Borough police at 717-838-8189. Palmyra Borough police thank the community – The Palmyra Borough Police Department would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Cookies for Caregivers, the McDonald’s in Palmyra, Central PA Rehabilitation Services, and Rita’s Italian Ice in Palmyra, who provided sweets, treats, and goodies to the police department and staff.
Aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct – At 3:51 pm April 17, police responded to the 00 block of South Chestnut Street for a disturbance caused by Mallory Lachance, 22. During the incident, Lachance assaulted police and EMS staff before being taken to the hospital for evaluation. On April 19, an arrest warrant was issued through MDJ Warner’s office for two counts of criminal aggravated assault, two counts of misdemeanor simple assault, two counts of summary harassment, and one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
South Lebanon Township
Cram-A-Cruiser – The South Lebanon Township Police Department has teamed up with the James Biever Police Community Alliance to collect nonperishable food items and personal care products. Stop by the police department before May 18 to place donations in the drop box in the lobby. Or come out to the Grocery Outlet at 1301 Quentin Road on May 18 from 10 am to 2 pm The police department, along with officers from other local police departments, will be there to collect donations. Help them cram-a-cruiser full of much-needed items for residents of Lebanon County. Take a look at the suggested items, or pick something you want to donate. All donations support Lebanon County Christian Ministries.
