Abraham Lincoln’s offense exploded for seven goals in the second half to defeat Thomas Jefferson for the fourth consecutive time, 10-0.

“It’s a nice win, it pushes us to 4-1 in conference play and above .500,” Lynx coach Jamison Parkhill said. “Things are finally starting to click. We had a little hiccup on Saturday at Southeast Polk, but after beating Harlan 6-0 and now this, you can see things are starting to really click for the guys, and they’re finding that chemistry .”

Jonathan Amador scored all three goals in the first half for the Lynx with his first coming just three minutes into the game, his second in the 17th minute and his third in the 22nd.

The Lynx offense went off in the first 11 minutes of the second half, netting four goals in that time frame. The first of the bunch came from Brady Watts, who booted it in from about 45 yards away in the 42nd minute. Julian Jimenez scored three minutes later, Irving Cruz scored in the 49th minute, and Konnor Parrott kicked in a penalty kick in the 51st minute to make it 7-0 AL.

Amador then netted his fourth goal in the 62nd minute to tie the single-game record for most goals in one game. Parrott scored his second of the game 10 minutes later.

“It takes a team effort,” Parrot said. “Not one man takes on the whole team and we just keep finding goals with each other. We’re a tight knit group, our defense was also stellar, we’ve have some good and bad games, but lately we’ve been having a lot of good games and we think we’ve found our system.”

Amador then iced the game with his fifth goal of the game in the 76th minute. The goal gave Amador the school record for most goals in a single game.

“First off I have to thank God, he’s always with me and I can’t do this without him,” Amador said. “The team was great, with out them this isn’t possible. After I got the three in the first half I was really trying to get five as I knew what the old record was, and it feels great to go on the leaderboard after helping get this team win.”

The previous record was held by Hunter Hendrix who scored four goals in a game back in 2018 against Columbus Scotus.

The Lynx hope to keep up their winning ways as they will take on Class 4A No. 5 Valley in West Des Moines at 3:30 pm

The Lynx have won six of their last seven games, and it’s been partially thanks to their offense which has been a problem for their opponents over the past month.

“We’re excited to head into Valley on Saturday and see what we can do against one of the top teams in the state,” Parkhill said. “The fact this team is clicking together and is apprehending the wealth, it’s not just been one guy, it’s awesome to see. You never want your opponent to be able to key in on just one guy and the goals for us can come from anyone where. Our wings, our midfielders, there’s a lot of guys here that can find the net.”

The Yellow Jackets will host Atlantic on Thursday at 5 pm in an attempt to break a five-game skid.
