Increases in fuel, electricity and gas are postponed until June

The National Executive Branch announced through a statement that it will publish a Decree in the Official Gazette, through which the date on which the update corresponding to the Fuel Tax will take effect will be deferred. The measure implies that there will be no increase for this concept in the month of May.

In this sense, “based on the rule that will be published in the Official Gazette, the National Government decided to defer the update corresponding to the fourth quarter of 2023 of the Taxes on Fuels and Carbon Dioxide for lead-free gasoline, gasoline virgin and diesel, as of June 1, 2024,” said the Presidency of the Nation.

And they added that, “in this way, the measure guarantees predictability to the sector and establishes that there will be no increase, for these concepts, in the month of May.”

Regarding the increases in electricity and gas, as of this Wednesday, May 1, the rate update was going to take effect, which was ordered by the Government and whose objective is to ensure that the increases granted do not lag behind inflation.

However, “the regulatory entities of both services, Enargas and ENRE, respectively, did not publish the new tariff tables pending a definition from the Treasury Palace,” reported the newspaper La Nación.

And in this sense, they detailed that the regulatory entities have calculated how much the increase that would correspond to the companies would be: 10.69% for electricity distributors, 12.5% ​​for gas distributors and 12% for gas transporters.” .

Economy had to define whether to move forward with a reduction in subsidies for the low (N2) and middle (N3) income sectors in gas and electricity.
