The technical brain behind the success of Max Vertappen and Checo Perez, Adrian Newey, will leave the Red Bull team by 2025.

It’s definitely the end of an era.

This morning, the Red Bull team announced that its technical director, Adrian Newey, will leave the Formula 1 champion team by 2025.

Adrian Newey’s departure began as a rumor.

After accusations of inappropriate behavior by team director Christian Horner—and subsequent accusations by Jos Verstappen, Max’s father—there was talk of the possibility of his departure.

With time and, above all, the victories at the beginning of this season, the waters calmed down.

However, this Wednesday the team issued a statement confirming that Adrian Newey would leave Red Bull after 19 years, in which he achieved seven drivers’ championships, six constructors’ championships, 118 victories and 101 pole positions.

“Oracle Red Bull Racing announces today that technical director Adrian Newey will leave Red Bull Technology Group in the first quarter of 2025. The engineering chief will leave his Formula 1 design duties to focus on the final development and delivery of Oracle’s first hypercar. Red Bull. the long-awaited RB17. He will remain involved and committed to this exciting project until its completion,” the team reported.

Newey added: “I feel like now is an opportune time to seek new challenges for myself. In the meantime, the final stages of development of RB17 are upon us, so for the rest of my time with the team my focus will be on that.”

“It has been a real privilege and I am sure that the engineering team is well prepared for the work leading up to the final evolution of the car during the four-year period established by these regulations,” added Adrian Newey.

Christian Horner, CEO of the Oracle Red Bull Racing team, said: “All of our greatest moments of the last 20 years have come with Adrian’s hand at the technical helm. “His vision and brilliance have helped us win 13 titles in 20 seasons.”

It is definitely the end of an era.
