Floral tributes left to man as murder investigation launched

Floral tributes have been left at the scene where a man was found fatally injured.

Police officers were called to Summertrees Road in Ellesmere Port at around 8.20pm on Wednesday, May 1 to reports a man had been assaulted by “three unknown men”. Officers arrived at the scene to find a man had been stabbed several times.

The victim was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital, where he later died. Detectives have launched a murder investigation and a police cordon is currently in place on Summertrees Road.

Numerous bunches of flowers have been left at the scene this morning in tribute to the victim. A note on one of the bouquets read: “Thinking of all your family and friends, you will be very much missed, love Terrie.”

Chief Superintendent Jon Betts said: “I understand the concern that this incident is likely to cause, and I want to reassure the local community that we are working hard to establish exactly what has taken place.

“Patrols have been stepped up in the local area to provide reassurance, and officers will also be conducting house-to-house inquiries near the scene of the incident.

“As part of the investigation we’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed what took place. The same goes or anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage which may aid the investigation.”
