The Deliberative Council of General Pueyrredon approved this week an ordinance that prohibits the circulation of motorcycles with modified exhaust pipes, which produce high noise pollution. The vehicles that carry them will be seized and, for their return, the owners must fit the approved exhausts.

The coordinating director of Municipal Transit, Héctor Ragnoli, told local media that the objective of this measure is “to reduce noise and what it causes in children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)”, although he added that “noise pollution affects everyone”.

It is worth clarifying that the novelty of this regulation is that it regulates the penalty for vehicles that circulate with a non-approved exhaust pipe, with the seizure of the motorcycle and the obligation to change it. Currently, ordinance 12,032 applies, which is linked to noise pollution in general, which includes full acceleration or warming up and testing engines.

“Within the penalty, which proceeds to the seizure of the motorcycle, in this case it requires the owner of the vehicle to change the exhaust before removing it,” Ragnoli added.

The official also told portal 0223 how the elimination of leaks works: “They run over them with a motor grader, which is a very heavy piece of machinery used to repair streets, and destroys them. This forces them to put in a new pipe. of exhausts to avoid annoying noises”. (DIB) ACR
