A man set his mother-in-law’s scooter on fire following a quarrel with his wife at Wadgaon Budruk on Wednesday night. However, the fire spread to other two-wheelers parked nearby and gutted a total of 15 vehicles.
An FIR was lodged against the accused at Sinhagad Road police station by his mother-in-law.
According to police, a woman left her husband following some dispute and went to her mother’s house in Wadgaon Sheri. Later her husband went to meet her on Wednesday night. However, a quarrel erupted between the couple again. The husband got angry and set his mother-in-law’s two-wheeler on fire. Police said the fire spread and gutted 14 more two-wheelers parked nearby, causing damages worth Rs 3.42 lakh.
On receiving information, a team of Pune Fire Brigade rushed to the spot and doused the flames.
Meanwhile, based on a complaint filed by the mother-in-law, police booked the man under Section 435 of the Indian Penal Code.
