Dubai flights continue to face disruptions

Dubai Flight Disruption News Live Updates: Airport authorities announced the cancellation and diversion of several flights to Dubai on Thursday, as heavy rainfall once again hit the United Arab Emirates, marking the second instance in a month, reported AP.According to a spokesperson for the authority, five inbound flights were diverted overnight, while nine arriving and four departing flights were cancelled. In April, intense thunderstorms caused the heaviest recorded rains in the UAE within hours, resulting in flooding on major highways and at Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest for international travel and a key hub for Emirates airlines. To manage the situation, the airport deployed 22 tankers equipped with vacuum pumps to remove water from its premises. In anticipation of Thursday’s rainfall, authorities advised residents to remain indoors, encouraging remote work and online schooling. While Thursday’s rain did not lead to significant issues or flooding, authorities issued warnings the day before and implemented precautionary measures. The flooding experienced two weeks prior overwhelmed the UAE’s drainage systems, flooding neighborhoods, business districts, and sections of the Sheikh Zayed Highway, a major thoroughfare connecting Dubai with the neighboring emirate of Abu Dhabi.
