“Can you imagine entering a store, taking your products and leaving without even taking out your card or cell phone to pay?” With this phrase, the manager of Transbank’s Products and Innovation Division, Paola Ledezma, opened her speech at eCommerce Day 2024, organized by the Santiago Chamber of Commerce (CCS), to highlight that the so-called invisible payments are already a reality in Chile thanks to the alliance between Transbank and Aramark.

During the event, both companies shared their experience in implementing invisible payments in Aramark’s autonomous and smart Quick Eats stores, located in the Metropolitan Region and Valparaíso. These stores were inaugurated in 2022 and 2023, respectively, and positioned Chile among the first countries in the world to have this type of technology.

Ledezma explained that “in March 2022, Aramark approached us about this challenge. They were looking for a leading partner in the category, who would give confidence and security to a purchasing process in which people did not intervene. And we all know that Webpay is synonymous with trust. In that sense, we decided to integrate Webpay Oneclick, a solution for recurring and invisible payments, into your Basoom wallet. In this way, the user enrolls their card only once and then makes the payment with a single click, or in this case, invisibly.”

Suiwen He, Marketing and Innovation Manager at Aramark, added that “as a service company, we always seek to be at the forefront of innovation and through this offer our customers the best experience. Our main objective at Quick Eats®, our autonomous store, was to minimize friction for customers, identifying two key points: the checkout and the payment process. Taking charge of these two instances led us to reduce purchasing time, considerably improving the experience of our users.”

“The implementation of invisible payments with Transbank has been a great opportunity to incorporate the latest technology payments in our store, join pioneering trends worldwide and create a store in Chile,” he added.

How does it work?

The invisible payment system is possible by incorporating Transbank’s Oneclick technology, which allows customers to easily, simply and very securely register their card once and then pay with one click on any device from their website, from a computer, iPad or cell phone. In the case of Quick Eats, customers simply grab the products they want and then leave the store. Payment is made automatically, and invisibly without the need for any additional interaction.

Benefits of invisible payments

  • Greater speed and comfort for customers.
  • Security in the process.
  • Less friction in payments.
  • Improvement in sales conversion as there are fewer steps to make the purchase.
  • Decrease in transaction time. Better shopping experience.

Invisible payments are just one of many trends transforming the world of payments. “In the future, we can expect to see even more innovation in this space, with solutions that are even faster, safer and more convenient for our customers. The Internet of Things will allow us to have millions of connected devices, this is how, for example, from a refrigerator connected to the Internet the order can be placed automatically when the milk or other food runs out, and the order will be paid for. in an invisible way,” Ledezma stressed.
