PEORIA, Ill. – Gas prices in Peoria have gone up three cents a gallon in the last week,

averaging $3.76 on Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 148 stations in Peoria.

Prices in Peoria are just over three cents higher than a month ago and a little over 1.5 cents a gallon higher than a year ago.

According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest gas in Peoria on Sunday was $3.58 a gallon, while the most expensive gas was $3.95. The lowest price in the state on Sunday was $3.18, while the highest priced gas was $5.29.

The national average price of gas has dropped one cent a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.62 on Monday, according to GasBuddy data.

“We’ve seen the national average fade slightly again as oil prices have cooled and our spring peak appears to be more confidently behind us,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “While refinery utilization rates last week indicated that there is still some refinery maintenance work to be done, oil prices have helped put downward pressure on gasoline prices, with oil falling below $80 per barrel last week.

Meanwhile, AAA Illinois says the average price of gas in the Peoria/Pekin metro area was $3.76 a gallon on Monday, the state’s average price was $3.90, and the national average price of gas was $3.65 a gallon.
