Akshaya Tritiya sparks gold rush in Gorakhpur, sales soar
GORAKHPUR: The city witnessed a flurry of activity on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, as jewelery traders rolled out special arrangements to meet the high demand for ornaments.

In a bid to manage crowds efficiently, many customers opted for pre-booking, securing their preferred jewelry by making advance payments.

According to reports from jewellers, pre-bookings worth approximately Rs 25-30 crore had been made, indicating a strong inclination towards gold and other precious ornaments among residents. The trend of lightweight and trendy jewelery dominated the market, with customers flocking to jewelery outlets across the city to explore enticing offers and discounts. Shopping fervor extended well into the night, with sales figures soaring close to the Rs 80-crore mark.

Prominent jewelery stores in Gorakhpur — including those located in Golghar, Ghantaghar, Urdu Bazaar, and the Rapti Complex in Aryanagar and Asuran — witnessed a surge in footfall. Atul Saraf and Anoop Saraf of Aisshpra Gems and Jewels said that they received an overwhelmingly positive response from customers on Akshaya Tritiya. Customers appreciated our offer of a 50% advance payment and a 90-day booking period at discounted prices, resulting in a significant increase in gold sales.

Meanwhile, Vaibhav Saraf and Soumitra Saraf said that people took full advantage of the slight decrease in gold prices by Rs 2,500 and silver by Rs 2,000-3,000 in recent days on this auspicious occasion.
