BOISE — Chad Daybell and the 17 jurors tasked with determining whether he is guilty of triple murder are returning to court Tuesday for the 23rd day of testimony in his trial.

Prosecutors said Monday they would be calling a doctor to the stand as the next witness in the case.

Chad Daybell is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Tammy Daybell, as well as the deaths of his new wife Lori Vallow Daybell’s two children, 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 16-year-old Tylee Ryan. He is also charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder of each of the victims, grand theft and two counts of insurance fraud.

On Monday, jurors heard from Tylee’s best friend about her relationships and from multiple investigators who examined her remains found behind Chad Daybell’s home.

FBI agent Nickolas Ballance also testified Alex Cox’s cellphone data shows his phone had been at a church near Chad Daybell’s home on two significant dates — the day when a man dressed in black pointed a gun and fired at Tammy Daybell and 10 days later on the day Tammy Daybell died. Cox, who has since died, was Lori Daybell’s brother.
