He Ministry of Defence of Taiwan announced on Wednesday the detection of 45 Chinese military aircraft around this island of autonomous government that next week invests a new president criticized for Beijing.

The department added that “26 of the planes crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait” that divides in half the 180 kilometers of sea that extend between this island and mainland China.

It is the highest number of Chinese army aircraft detected this year in a period of 24 hours around this island that China claims as part of its territory.

Lai Ching-tedescribed from Beijing as a “dangerous separatist,” will be inaugurated on May 20 as president of Taiwan, a country with a democratic and autonomous system.

China has never renounced using force to take control of Taiwan and in recent years has increased military pressure on the island, sending planes and ships to the area almost daily.
