Basilia Murillo, renowned figure of Pacific gastronomy, passed away after a battle against an illness that affected his health.

Political leaders in the region, such as the mayor of Cali, Alejandro Eder, the governor of Valle, Dilian Francisca Toro, and the councilor of Cali, Roberto Ortiz, regretted the news and extended their messages of condolences to family and friends.

Murillo, famous for her seasoning, was honored on multiple occasions for her dedication to traditional cuisine. The Congress of the Republic, through the House of Representatives, distinguished her for her love of culinary roots, while the La Barra National Award recognized her as the best cook in the country.

For more than four decades, Basilia delighted its diners in its restaurant located in the Plaza de Mercado de la Alameda in Cali. Originally from Chocó, she arrived in Cali when she was two years old, bringing with her the authentic flavor of her region.
