HOWARD — Bryar Householder was virtually untouchable again.

East Knox’s hard-throwing right-hander, Householder surrendered just two hits as the fourth-seeded Bulldogs blanked No. 5 Grandview Heights 3-0 in a Division III sectional final Wednesday afternoon at East Knox.

A senior, Householder struck out 14 and walked three. He retired the last seven batters he faced and struck out the side in order in the seventh.

For the season, Householder has allowed three earned runs in 39 innings of work while striking out 90. He averages more than two whiffs per inning.

The Bulldogs (19-4) scored the only run they would need in the home half of the first. Bracen Davis drew a leadoff walk, took second on a passed ball and scored on Householder’s single to right.

East Knox added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth. Caden Wengerd drove in a run with an infield single in the fifth and Josh Keith scored on a Grandview Heights error in the sixth.

East Knox managed just three hits. Derrick Field singled to lead off the fifth.

Grandview Heights starter Michael Greer struck out nine and walked five in 5.1 innings of work. He gave up three runs, two earned.

William Halberg and Theo Kosnikowski had hits for Grandview Heights.

East Knox will host either sixth-seeded Newark Catholic or No. 14 Cardington in a district semifinal at 5 pm Tuesday. The Green Wave host the Pirates at 5 pm Thursday in a sectional championship game.
