IP Agency.- After important meetings held at the White House with President Joe Biden’s security advisors; legislators, businessmen in the technological area and other leaders of the United States, in order to promote short, medium and long-term investments in Paraguay, President Santiago Peña leaves this Saturday for China Taiwan to attend the inauguration ceremony at the helm of the new President Lai Ching-te, which will be this Sunday in Taipei.

Among the relevant meetings in Washington, the Head of State highlighted the meeting at the White House with President Joe Biden’s advisors, the United States National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan; Security Advisor for Latin America, Daniel Erikson; and the advisor for Latin American Affairs, Chris Dodd.

They addressed the regional and global approach of Paraguay and the vision of the United States with full agreement on the principles and values ​​of freedom, democracy and human rights, Peña said after the meeting.

He highlighted that they also spoke “about investment in technology and the development of key programs that have to do with the use of resources that allow us to generate decent and well-paid employment in Paraguay.”

Among other aspects, the permanent support that Paraguay provides to Taiwan and the position of constant support for Israel were also analyzed, as well as Paraguay’s position in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, arguing for a peaceful solution as quickly as possible.

For the Peña Government, security is a priority issue on Paraguay’s agenda and the cooperation of the United States is key. In this context, he is working together, in addition to meeting with legislators from both American chambers, from both political parties.

The meetings held allowed us to project a much higher level of bilateral relations. Peña and the Paraguayan delegation addressed issues related to the transfer of knowledge, technologies and the training of police personnel, which will allow Paraguay to advance in other aspects.
