The WHO denounces a new siege against a hospital in northern Gaza

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported this Tuesday that the Al Awda hospital, in the town of Jabalia, north of the Gaza Strip, has been under absolute siege for three days, and that inside there are at least 148 workers and 22 patients and their companions. “Medical staff have reported intense fire this morning, with live ammunition that has damaged vital hospital infrastructure, as well as sniper attacks to prevent anyone from approaching any windows and an artillery rocket that hit the fifth floor,” explained by videoconference the head of the WHO office in the occupied Palestinian territories, Rick Peeperkorn.

This is the second time that this hospital has been subject to a siege by Israeli military forces since the war in Gaza began. In the first episode, fourteen employees died and several dozen staff members and volunteers were injured. Likewise, the evacuation of patients, medical personnel and displaced people from the Kamal Adwan hospital, close to the first and around which the bombings have intensified in recent days, was confirmed.
